The IC-7000 uses new IF-DSP technology as used the the IC-750PROIII and IC-7800. Slightly smaller than the IC-706MkIIG, it packs even more features.

The IC-7000 covers all the amateur bands all modes from 160m to 70cm. RF power has been upgraded with 50W for 2m FM and 35W on 70cm FM. Variable power low to high is available on all bands. The general coverage receiver tunes from 30kHz to 200MHz and 400 to 450MHz.

Noticable is the 2.5in colour TFT display. You can choose from 3 background colours and 2 font styles. This is very effective for displaying frequencies and relevant information and for using the band scope. The TFT display can also be used for PAL B video.

The IC-7000 uses 2x DSP with improved performance. Digital IF filters with a choice of 41 different filter widths. No more ‘optional’ filters to buy. You can alter the shape of the filter for SSB and CW and pull in weak stations. You can either narrow the IF passband or shift the entire passband to eliminate QRM. There is also a new 2 point manual notch filter (MNF), notch width is adjustable wide, medium and narrow with an auto-tuning notch setting available as well.

There is a built-in digital voice recorder (DVR) with a total of 90 seconds available for 4 playback memories. You can record your call sign, CQ message etc. great for contests.

For the CW enthusiast there is an internal memory keyer which provides 4 memories for station information or contest use. There is up to 55 characters in each of the memories for CQ, callsign and messages. It also performs automatic repeat, automatic contest serial numbers and 'cut-numbers'.

Installation of the IC-7000 is easy especially with the detachable front panel. Optional mounting brackets are available and there is a choice of lengths of optional separation cables.

There are many optional accessories available for the IC-7000 and include the external AT-180 ATU and IC-PW1/EURO linear amplifier. (Note that power socket different than other rigs)
